THE POLYGONS
The Polygons live on Flat Street in a part of Geo City called Plane Town. They are a large and busy family.

Penta Gon is five. She likes to dress up and wear silly clothes. She likes to paint pictures and play with her dolls. Her favorite food is spaghetti. She wants to be an actress when she grows up.

Hexa Gon is six and Hepta Gon is seven. They like to read books, write stories, and draw pictures. They also like to play games. Their favorites are skipping, hopscotch, hand clapping, Snakes and Ladders, and Go Fish.

Octa Gon is eight. He likes to run fast and play sports like baseball, basketball, and hockey. Soccer is his favorite sport and he is good at scoring goals. Last year his team won the championship. He was excited! Everyone got a medal and their picture was in the newspaper.

Nona Gon is nine. She wears jewellery and clothing with horses on them because horses are her favorite kind of animal. In her room she has a horse lamp, a horse clock, and horse statues, books, pictures, toys, posters, and movies. The sheets, pillowcases, and blankets on her bed have horse pictures printed on them. She also has a horseshoe hanging on her bedroom door to bring her good luck.

Deca Gon is ten. He likes to do math, put model airplanes together, play video games and watch scary movies. He can do stunts on his bike, on his skateboard and on his scooter. For his next birthday he wants a pair of roller blades.

Dodeca Gon is twelve. She is almost a teenager. She likes loud music, lots of clothes, going to the mall with her friends, painting her nails different colors, and experimenting with her hair. She talks a lot on the telephone after school when she should be doing her homework.

There are younger kids too. The Triangles are three. They go to Happy Shapes Day Care. They like to cuddle soft toys, dig in the sandbox and splash in the water at the water park. Their favorite snack is crackers and cheese.

The Quads are four. They can do tricks like everyone else in the family. Usually they stand on one of their sides but sometimes they like to balance on just one corner. They can also turn, spin and rotate.

Even though the Polygons are very busy, they like to do things as a family. Sometimes they play signs and invite their neighbors the “circles” and “ovals” to join them. They dress up as nametags, street signs, stop signs, crossing signs, or signs that mean danger.

Sometimes they play patterns. They make stars and flowers, checkerboards and kaleidoscopes, spider webs and honeycombs and many other interesting designs.

Sometimes they play solids. They join together to make boxes (cuboids), pyramids and prisms. If the circles come over to play they can make cones and cans (cylinders). When they are solids they can stack, flip, slide, and roll.

When they play structures, they build things like walls, fences, bridges, towers, buildings, furniture and vehicles.

Sometimes they even play foods. They can be pizza slices, sandwiches, crackers, pasta, chocolate bars, pretzels, nachos, cheese wedges, pieces of cake and other yummy treats.

Best of all, they like to play hide and seek. Look all around you. Can you find them?
